If a thief breaks into your car cabin physically, they can plug an electronic programming tablet into your car's OBD-II diagnostic port. Which Car Keys Are Immune to Scanning?

Traditional mechanical keys and standard, non-remote transponder keys are completely immune to remote wireless scanning. While transponder keys contain an electronic chip, the chip has no battery power and only transmits when inserted into the ignition cylinder (where it is excited by an induction coil).
